1 comment:

  1. I wrestled with Minor League Player of the Year. My initial entries were Skole, Karns, and Goodwin. Then I saw the definition of the award, "Minor league player most destined for big league success." So, do I reward the players with the best years (Skole, Karns, Goodwin, imo), or do I list who I think has the best chance to be a productive Major Leaguer? I wen't with option 2, and submitted Goodwin, Rendon, Meyer, and Garcia (I couldn't choose between the two for third place). Even with Karns' great year, he's still old for the levels, and three years removed from huge shoulder surgery. He has no track record of being healthy, so I didn't consider him destined for big league success, as his shoulder might give out. On the flip side, Rendon played in all of 43 games this year, with a slash of .162/.305/.368 in 21 games in AA. Best year of anyone? Not even close, but I still feel his skills have him being a big leaguer.
Okay, I guess I should have made this a post on my blog, but, well, I haven't posted there in forever, and I'm not about to mess with the mojo at this point. Yes, my silence is directly related to the Nats record. The more they won, the less I wanted to write, for fear of jinxing them.
Okay, to anyone who actually read this, do yourself a favor and read something shorter. Like... Infinite Jest or something.
