DC-IBWA Announces 2012 Pre-Season Survey Results

Washington, DC -- Members of the Washington, DC chapter of the Internet Baseball Writers Association were asked to reply to a survey of 11 questions regarding the Washington Nationals upcoming season. Twenty-one members of the association replied to the survey, which asked for predictions on several position battles, statistical leaders, and win projections for the 2012 Nats.

1. Who will lead the Nats in home runs?  Ryan Zimmerman (11), Michael Morse (10), Jayson Werth (4).

2. Who will lead the Nats in RBIs? Zimmerman (12), Werth (4), Danny Espinosa (2), Morse (1), Wilson Ramos (1).

3. Who will led the Nats in stolen bases? Ian Desmond (16), Espinosa (4), Roger Bernadina (1), Werth (1).

4. Who will lead the Nats in wins? Jordan Zimmermann (15), Gio Gonzalez (4), Stephen Strasburg (1), Edwin Jackson (1).

5. Which pitcher (Chien-Ming Wang, John Lannan or Ross Detwiler) will make more starts for the Nats? Lannan (12), Detwiler (6), Wang (3).

6. Which center field candidate (Rick Ankiel, Roger Bernadina or Bryce Harper) will get more at bats for the Nats? Harper (11), Bernadina (6), Ankiel (4).

7. What date will Bryce Harper make his MLB debut? June 15 (4), June 1 (4), May 1 (2), May 15, 18; June 2, 5, 19, 21, 22; July 3, 4, 21; Sept. 1, 2.

8. Which minor leaguer are you most excited to watch this season? Anthony Rendon (9), Eury Perez (4), Tyler Moore (3), Matt Purke (3), Corey Brown (2), Michael Taylor (1), Destin Hood (1), Chris Marrero (1), Alex Meyer (1), Ryan Tatusko (1).

9. How many all-stars will the Nats have and whom? Two (11), Three (5), One (4), Five (1), Six (1). Ryan Zimmerman (19), Stephen Strasburg (16), Drew Storen (5), Jayson Werth (3), Jordan Zimmermann (3), Wilson Ramos (2), Gio Gonzlaez (1), Michael Morse (1), Danny Espinosa (1).

Our goal is to promote the independent online media outlets, Internet writers, blogs and websites of this association to increase awareness and respect as active members of the media that cover the Washington Nationals MLB club.

The Association will vote each season on post-season Player Achievement Awards, both for the Washington Nationals and for the BBWAA Awards. Local awards will be named after heroes of Washington baseball. In addition, the Association will recognize excellence within the blogging community as well.

The member sites listed on our home page have met the criteria for membership and provide consistent, excellent content covering the Washington Nationals.
